A Walk In The Woods
by Lee Blessing
Directed by A. Clay Boyce

Meet the
Cast:
Andrey
Botvinnik - Terry Hermes
This will be Terry's 11th Park Players
production, and the second this
summer, having played Oberon this past May in Midsummer Night's
Dream, one
of his favorite roles ever. Since he started doing theatre
in Birmingham
in June of 2003, he has appeared in 32 productions. But
enough numbers.
Other favorite roles around town in this stretch: George in
Who's Afraid of
Virginia Woolf and Juror #4 in 12 Angry Men , and Aaronov in
Glengarry Glen
Ross, all for Theatre Downtown; Ralph the narrator in three
different
productions of A Christmas Story, for Centerstage twice, and at
ACTA.; and
Balthasar in The Lying Kind at TNT. This one, as the
crusty old Russian
diplomat, will rank right up there--such a rich character with
depth and
charm, confronting one of the most urgent questions of mankind:
its very
survival. My thanks to Clay for giving me this wonderful
opportunity.
John
Honeyman
- Hal Word
A native of
Scottsboro Alabama, Hal is excited to be appearing in his first
show with Park Players and would like to thank Clay for such a
great opportunity. He is also thrilled to be sharing the stage
with his friend Terry for the second time. Hal has appeared in
such area productions as Terrific New Theatre’s “China: The
Whole Enchilada, Red Mountain Theatre’s “The Sound of Music”,
CenterStage Productions’ “Into the Woods” and “Grease”, Muse of
Fire’s “Marriage a la Mode”, LJCC’s “Once Upon a Mattress”, The
Leeds Arts Council’s “My Fair Lady”, and Birmingham Festival
Theatre’s “The Great Wrong Way.” He has also appeared in Opera
Birmingham’s productions of “Aida”, “Turandot” and “Faust.” Hal
is currently a guest artist at Birmingham Children’s Theatre
where he has recently appeared as King Trueword in “The Frog
Prince” and originated the role of Ms. Licorice in their
premiere of “Hansel and Gretel.” This September thru December he
can be seen as the Wicked Stepmother in their production of
“Cinderella.”
Director
- A. Clay Boyce
Clay is the artistic director and founder of
Park Players. He is thrilled to be directing a show he fell in
love with 25 years ago. He was last seen on the stage as
Tyler in the LJCC's production of "Crossing Delancey". He recently finished directing "The
Trip to Bountiful" for South City Theatre. Some of his
favorite roles have been George in "Of Mice and Men",
the Beast in "Disney's Beauty and the Beast", the title role in "Hamlet" and Victoria's dad. He
would like to thank his wife, Vicki and his daughter, Victoria
for all the love and support they have given him through the
years! He would also like to thank this incredibly talented cast
and crew and thank them for their time and effort. I couldn't have done
this without you!

Asst. Director -
Jeannine Pope-Carter
Jeannine is thrilled to be working with Park
Players on this project. Her many creative interests focus on
all things story related. Previously she has performed in
several Birmingham productions of the "Vagina Monologues".
Occasionally, she has told stories and poems at venues around
Birmingham and Montgomery. A writer by trade, she has completed
her own novel, which she is now in the process of editing.
Likewise, she is an avid film enthusiast and has crewed on
several small productions as well as writing and directing her
own short. She just completed three years in seminary and year
in a Pastoral Care Residency and is now combining her past and
present professional skills by utilizing her decade-long
experience focus on Hospice and ministry within the Birmingham
Community. Jeannine would like to thank Steve and Clay for
casting her in this production of "Comedy of Errors". Her
re-entry into Birmingham Theater has been a true joy for her.
